Tips for measuring your window for shades, blinds or shutters

  • Use a steal measuring tape
  • Measure to an eighth of an inch and always round down to the nearest eighth.
  • Record width first and clearly mark down to avoid error of giving wrong measurements
  • Record height second and clearly mark down to avoid error of giving wrong measurements

Inside Mounts
  • For inside mounts make sure you leave enough clearance for the shade to function
  • For inside mounts measure the width at the top, middle and bottom and use the narrowest width point
  • For inside mounts measure the height at the left, middle and right side choose the shortest for appearance and the longest for privacy.

Outside Mounts
  • Measure the width that you would like the shade to cover, make note of any obstructions
  • Measure the height that you wold like the shade to cover including up to two and a half inches for the wall mount.
  • Manufacturers make blinds for outside mounts exactly to specification so double check measurements against area you want to cover.
